DERMAFLASH
What It Is
A patented exfoliating device inspired by dermaplaning (an expensive exfoliating treatment provided in doctors’ offices and medical spas that basically shaves the epidermis and removes peach fuzz). DERMAFLASH puts a special twist on this process by adding ultrasonic technology to the device and by offering the device in conjunction with special Prep and Soothe creams for use before and after treatment, respectively. After cleansing the skin with Prep (to remove oil and the first round of debris), you insert an Edge into the device itself by gliding the device over the edges, which are housed snugly in a plastic case (see above). Once the blade has snapped into place, you glide it over skin. The device requires a fresh Edge for each treatment and has a blue silicone pad on it that is intended to stay in contact with skin to maintain the correct angle. Using short strokes and holding skin taut, you make your way over skin, avoiding the eyelids, eyebrows, hairline, sides of the nose, and lips. The entire exfoliating treatment generally takes me 5-7 minutes. Afterward, my skin is smooth and hair-free. After treatment, you apply the Soothe Hydrating Lotion, which is designed to brighten and soften dull skin.
User Experience
I found that both products worked well on my sensitive skin. The device itself was easy to use, though you will want to be slow and steady, as it would be possible to cut yourself if not using the silicone edge properly to maintain the right angle. After my first treatment, I was really struck by how much brighter and smoother my face looked. Somehow it does seem to temper signs of aging, as well as removing peach fuzz. The DERMAFLASH is to be used at most once a week, and I found that I could let the time between treatments go just slightly longer than this before some of my more obnoxious hairs start becoming visible again. I have not found that my hair has grown back thicker or darker, though the device has not halted the growth rate of thicker, darker hair.
Surprising Benefits
DERMAFLASH is likely to have anti-aging benefits due to the exfoliation, which may help the rate of cell turnover (e.g., think to have fewer wrinkles in the beard area, which they exfoliate through regular shaving). It’s not just conjecture! It’s clinically proven. Based on a study of 100 DERMAFLASH users, 96% reported that skin was supple and soft after use, 89% reported a positive change in tone and texture after using DERMAFLASH, 90% said they were glowing after using the device, and 90% also reported that DERMAFLASH worked as well as a primer in terms of making makeup application easier. 92% of users stated they would recommend DERMAFLASH to a friend. All in all, I agree that the DERMAFLASH is a must-have beauty gadget.

- An effective, aesthetically pleasing solution to peach fuzz and a brighter, smoother complexion
- Simple to use and provides real complexion benefits as well. I just wish it had the magic to inhibit future hair growth. Darn chin hair!
- Highly recommended, and youu don’t have to take my word for it (see Wall Street Journal, DERMAFLASH clinical studies)
